Digital communication is becoming a key element of our lives today. With the penetration of
smartphones and the Internet, people are now exposed to technology at a very young age.
However, where audio-visual material is concerned, the exposure is usually limited to reels and
short videos. These videos are often limited in both, their aesthetic sense and depth of content.
This course aims to introduce the learners to a more comprehensive understanding of digital
storytelling using audio-visual techniques with technology that is readily available to them. Given
that this is a short-term course, the learners will not get very deep insights into the form but will
open them up to the possibilities of story-telling with more depth and technical finesse. They will
be introduced to some core elements of shot taking, including shot magnifications and rule of
thirds, gaze and genres of storytelling in the digital age and conceiving stories and scripting
them. Moreover, learners who are interested in following up on the topic will be given a lot of
material that they could follow up on.
